Social Competence
Social Competence refers to the emotional, social, and cognitive behaviors and
skills needed for successful social adaptation. A child’s social competence
depends upon a variety of factors, including the child’s social awareness,
social skills, and self-confidence. TaeKwonDo is indicated in
university studies
to increase social competencies by helping students build confidence, channel
aggressive energy, and create a positive self-image.
Biomechanics
Biomechanics is the science concened with the internal and external forces acting on the body
and the effects produced by these forces. ITA has been consistently
researching
and evolving the stretching, lines of movement, and alignment principles that
make up its art for more than twenty years, resulting in the Ho-Am TaeKwonDo
forms used today.
Mindfulness Training and Practice
Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way: on
purpose, in the present moment and non-judgmentally. Hence, mindfulness is being
present or having Presence. Presence is that quintessential quality of awareness
and being that creates peak experiences in living. Mindfulness practice is based
on the premise that only in the experience of the present moment can one
accurately perceive what is really happening, when life is fully appreciated
without the need to judge it, and when effective action can be taken.
Mindfulness when achieved can occur every moment. It can be achieved through
Mindfulness Meditation during active dynamic Life (TaeKwonDo, shopping, eating,
walking, exercise, singing, dancing, etc.), or during passive breathing
exercises.
